Introducing Pastor Bill King
As
I begin serving as your interim pastor, I want to thank you for such
a warm welcome. It was a special treat for me to have my wife and
children with me on my first Sunday, September 2. We appreciated the
reception following the worship service.
I am looking forward to my time with you as we prepare the way
for calling a new pastor. I have been involved in intentional
interim ministry for over a decade. I live in Cowansville, PA, and
will be staying in the manse several nights a week while serving as
your interim pastor.
Before coming to the Lewistown Church, I served as the interim
pastor at Trinity Church, Butler. Prior to that, I was the interim
pastor at Bell Memorial Church in Ellwood City. I have also served
as the interim associate pastor for Graystone Church, Indiana, and
the interim pastor for First Church, Clarion. While serving as the
interim pastor for the yoke of Mount Zion Church, Templeton, and
Concord Church, Dayton, I attended the interim pastor training
program sponsored by the Presbyterian Church at Montreat in North
Carolina.
My wife, Mary, and I live in Cowansville where she has been the
pastor of Union First Presbyterian Church since 1979. Our son, Tim,
is a graduate of Penn State and is working as a mechanical engineer
for Westinghouse in the Pittsburgh area. His wife, Emily, teaches
music in the Leechburg School District. Our daughter, Gloria, is a
junior at Penn State majoring in mechanical engineering and a member
of the Blue Band.
I have been active in my community in a number of ways. I managed
several of my daughter’s little league teams (minor league baseball
and senior girl’s softball) and spent a year umpiring. I have served
as president of the local P.T.O. and as a board member for the
Armstrong County chapter of the Red Cross.
A graduate of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, I pursued
post-graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh. My undergraduate
degree is in electrical engineering from Bucknell University. After
college, I worked for a while at a government research lab near
Washington, D.C. On a personal note, I have a passion for music,
computers, and astronomy. |
